10" LCD Side Panel Mod

Back to the side panel, one thing I decided I wanted to do with this case was to be able to play Galactica episodes on a secondary screen. Since the front three screens were far too small for watching a TV show, I opted to include yet another LCD screen on the left side, opposite the motherboard tray instead of going for a traditional window.

I found a 10” LCD widescreen monitor that was ideal for computer applications, as it came with a normal VGA cable instead of something crazier. As a bonus, it also had it’s own wireless remote!

To run it, I’m using EVGA’s incredibly useful UV12 USB video "card"/block. Below the screen, I put another, larger set of BSG raised lettering, and made these glow red in the middle for a subtle effect. This was accomplished by laser cutting the LCD mounting panel in the exact same way as the centres of the lettering, then positioning two red cathodes behind it. Some aluminium tape was required to keep any extra light from bleeding through the panel, but it was hidden on the inside of the case so no one will see it.

Keyboard

While a great gamers' keyboard in itself, the Logitech G15 needed work to make it fit in the style of the build. There's something to the said about whole systems that fit a look and when you're going to case competitions it's worth going the extra mile for a package.

The wrist rest was the obvious place to start as it has the most space to work with, plus it's detachable. I cut holes in it for ribs to be visible inside and drew out some detail on the top first of all, then it used more styrene to fit in the gaps and etched out the detail around it. Finally it was given a lick of primer before the whole thing was painted to match the case.

Monitor

Not to be left out I dismantled the monitor and ribbed it up using more styrene glued into place, before it was also primed and painted.
